Right before Carter's birthday party weekend, we got to spend a week with my family in Isle of Palms, SC at the Wild Dunes Resort. It was actually the third time we went down there together so it's becoming a bit of a Kniola family tradition. The first time Bryson and I were childless, and Lindsay was boyfriendless. The second time Brooks was a year old. This time there were TWO little boys, and my how things change!!
Brooks loved spending so much time with Nene and Pops and even got a few great days with Aunt Winnie and Matt at the end of the trip. He had a blast digging holes in the sand on the beach and playing in the kids pool at the resort.
But he's not the only little boy that had a good time! It was Carter's first trip to the beach, and I think it's safe to say he truly enjoyed himself. There is nothing cuter than a baby on the beach. Especially when they jump right in with no fear, sand between their toes, and the salt water in their mouths! I don't think I'll ever forget the first time we plopped him down on the sand and he just took off, straight for the water, splashing and smiling and stopping every now and then to pick up a shell or a piece of seagrass and try to eat it.
The vacation was the perfect mix of everything. We spent time outdoors pool and beachside, went bowling, got in some exercise, cooked at home, and enjoyed a few meals out. The boys played golf, the girls got massages at the spa, and Mom and I took the boys for a long bike ride. We visited The U.S.S. Yorktown, a real life airport carrier, which was a personal dream come true for Brooks since he's been diligently playing with his toy aircraft carrier and studying the one from the Disney's Planes movie.
Bryson and I got to go on a date night at Husk and met our friends Alden and Taylor for a drink beforehand. We were even able to double date with Lindsay and Matt at Fig too!
Even though vacationing with two boys is anything but relaxing, it was such a joy to spend time with them and have the family all together in our cozy townhome.
Many happy memories. Two happy kiddos. Life is good.
Yes, Carter! Yes!
