Ellington - 8 Months

Now that it's officially summer, we started a nice, new routine. Many days, both boys were in camps in the morning which meant Ellington got a nice 1.5 hour nap in her quiet room and Mom got a little time to get the house in order. The boys loved their DA and Hill Center Camps, and as much as she enjoyed some time to herself, Ellington loved picking them up each day, the car and house again awash in noise and chaos.

It was nice to be home and spend some summer weekends just being a family of 5. She loved splashing in the HVCC pool, sitting in her float or in someone's arms, enjoying some respite from the hot humid days.

We got invited to go to Grandfather Mountain with our friends the Perrys. The Nixons came along too, as well as the Hobbs and the Kings. All five families enjoyed the cool mountain air and the manmade swimming lake together. She loved celebrating Carter's 4th birthday with him this year as well as her first Father's Day. She sure is a Daddy's girl already!

And speaking of holidays, she celebrated her first 4th of July. Though she wasn't quite old enough to go downtown with Daddy and the boys for fireworks, she had plenty of festive fun with a stroll in the parade, a pool party at the club, a patriotic dinner al fresco on our back deck, and of course, plenty of red, white and blue costume changes.

Down to 4 nursing sessions a day, three big real food meals, and 2 big naps. A perfect and easy schedule, making her even more of a delight to be around. She discovered her feet (delish to chew on) and her voice (babbling constantly). Interested in everyone and everything. It was a happy month!
