Twas the night before Christmas... and the boys look sleepy!
Surprisingly and fortunately, the Christmas season didn't fly by as quickly as it typically does this year. Perhaps it was because for the first time in a while I wasn't so full of work-related stress that I was able to truly savor the moments. It was also helpful that Kringle, our elf on the shelf, helped us countdown each and every day. Regardless of the reason, Christmas came and went in the Powell household but not without much wonder, magic, and anticipation.
The "main event" was a relaxing holiday at home with Nene, Pops, and Aunt Winnie in town. Santa did not have any trouble finding our new house and he did not disappoint. Brooks' favorite gift was his United airplane and Carter was thrilled to get his very own plasma car. Both boys loved the Lightning McQueen power wheels even though Santa somehow forgot to include a critical steering wheel piece at the workshop. It has been special ordered and will arrive in the mail hopefully soon! We enjoyed many yummy meals and cozy nights in Durham surrounded with lots of love and plenty of new toys.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the long weekend.
Note, cookies, and milk for Santa. Carrots for Rudolph and the crew!
He came! He came!
New plane... and new bathrobe!
So excited he's about to pummel Carter over the head!
Group shot before we left the boys with a sitter for a dinner out at Lantern.
As we head into the new year, I am feeling incredibly lucky to have our health, our happiness, family that loves us, friends we cherish, jobs we enjoy, a beautiful new home, and a lot to be excited about in 2015. One day I hope that Brooks and Carter realize those are the most wonderful gifts of all. Until then, the new loot from Santa has kept them very busy!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
