Halloween and Fall Festivities

Fall in the Powell household was filled with a lot of fun and activity! Both boys had a lot of “fall themed” learning in school. Carter had a fall fair with games and prizes. I was able to volunteer at it and enjoyed seeing him in action with all his little classmates. He learned about leaves and pumpkins - and has finally stopped crying at drop off in the mornings! Brooks made ghosts, Frankensteins, and goblin craft projects at school, learned a song about “witches brew,” and we went together to his school field trip to Green Acres farm where we acquired 2 more pumpkins.

Aunt Winnie and Uncle Matt visited the weekend before Halloween and got the boys' candy addiction started with a pumpkin bucket food of goodies. They came with us to our annual Ganyard Hill Farm outing and had a lot of fun running through the corn maze. And we acquired 6 more pumpkins.

Halloween weekend quickly followed. For Brooks, our aviation lover, we found the perfect Pilot costume complete with a hat and tie. He looked SO old wearing it - almost like he could be a real pilot.

Carter wore Brooks’ hand-me-down Firefighter costumer with a new Fire Chief hat and looked adorable.

I took the day off work on Friday before Halloween so Carter and I could head over to Westminster for their annual Halloween parade. It was a beautiful day, and Brooks seemed to feel pretty darn cool making two laps around the courtyard in his spiffy outfit. Most of the little boys wore superhero costumes and masks, so Brooks’ costume really stood out, and he was a big hit with all the onlooking parents. Carter joined in the fun by dressing up too. We then had a picnic lunch at the airport while we waiting for Nene and Pops to land!

Saturday night we visited a few houses in Surrey Green before we headed to the Nixons’ neighborhood Southpoint Manor for the second year in a row. It was again a wonderland of candy, decorations, and little kids in costumes. Nene and Pops enjoyed being along for the ride this year and helping them collect tons and tons of candy.

Such a fun season with all my favorite people!
